Term 2 Issue 4

Kia ora e te whanau,

Last weekend we held our annual school Ball for Year 12 and 13 learners at the Pullman Hotel. Not only did our learners look amazing, but they were amazing ambassadors of our school, whanau, and the wider community. Congratulations and thank you to all our Ball attendees for making the evening an incredibly positive and memorable evening.

You may have read in the press regarding the liquidation of Actura and the cancellation of trips to Space School. We had a number of learners registered to attend Space Camp in 2025, and are communicating directly with the families affected.

We have had a huge range and number of successes in the last few weeks for our learners. The details are within this newsletter, but I want to highlight the amazing work of our Performing Arts learners and staff. We have had such positive feedback, not only about their performances but also the way in which they conducted themselves around the events and once again, the way they represented our school and community.

Inside the classroom, there has been a lot happening too. At the recent whole school assembly, I highlighted to learners that this is a really important time in the school year to solidify the learnings from class activities. It is vital they work to their fullest potential and give themselves the best chance of embedding knowledge. The results at the end of the year will be determined by the work they do now. As parents, continue to encourage your learners to strive for success, and support them where possible in doing so.

The forthcoming Learner-Led Conferences are a great way for you to support your learner with their school work and get a greater sense of need for progress from your learner’s Kaiarahi. Please try to make this evening a priority to attend when the bookings open next week.

We would also like to take this opportunity to invite our whole community to our Matariki Festival on 27 June from 12.30pm. This is a bi-annual event held between our school and Orewa College. It gives an amazing opportunity for our Māori communities to come together and celebrate Matariki through Kapa Haka. This year we will be hosting five secondary schools from the wider region, in our school Gym.
