Whangaparāoa College Launches Exciting Trades Academy Initiative

Stage one has been approved! Come join us on this exciting journey!

Whangaparāoa College is thrilled to announce the commencement of its Trades Academy, a significant step towards providing students with invaluable hands-on learning experiences and pathways to successful careers. The School Board has approved stage one of this exciting project, marking the beginning of a transformative initiative for the community.

A key component of the Trades Academy will involve renovating an existing house on the school grounds. This practical, real-world project will provide learners with the opportunity to develop essential skills in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and more.

"Bring it on! Bring on our Trades Academy!" says Principal Steve McCracken. We are eager to collaborate with the community to make this vision a reality! Whangaparāoa College is actively seeking interested parties who would like to be involved in this groundbreaking project. Whether you are a local business, tradesperson, or community member with expertise to share, your involvement can make a significant difference.

The school encourages anyone interested in contributing to the project to contact Acting Deputy Principal Justin Lintern directly. This initiative represents a significant investment in the future of Whangaparāoa College learners and the wider community, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the trades industry.
